Joan E. (Everhart) Hawkins, age 92 of Franklin Avenue, Grafton, WV passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the home of Lonnie and Donna Mayle.
She was born August 21, 1924 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late George W. and Dorothy Belle (King) Everhart.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol J. Freeze and husband Jeffery, of Grafton and Beverly L. Workman and husband Rodney, of Fleming Island, FL; one son, John W. Hawkins and companion Linda Swisher, of Harper’s Ferry, WV; six grandchildren, Lucas and Jacob Freeze, Steffyn and Evan Workman, Teia Brady and Jason Hawkins; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Everhart.

Joan graduated from Barrickville High School with the Class of 1942. She then worked as the Executive Secretary for the Taylor County Board of Education for over 35 years.

She was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Grafton and attended the First Christian Church with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons.
Joan was an over 50 year member of the Naomi Chapter #12 O.E.S.; Grafton City Hospital Trustee from 1993-2011; a member of the Grafton City Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Taylor County Retired School Employees, Grafton Women’s Club, and a member of a morning and afternoon bridge club.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Friday, June 23rd from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral on Saturday.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Hanlin officiating.
Interment will follow at the Bluemont Cemetery in Grafton.
