Mary Claudine (Morris) Draughn, age 92 of Thorn Lane, (Grafton-Morgantown Rd.) Grafton, WV passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at her daughter, Sally’s residence.
She was born January 5, 1926 in El Centro, CA a daughter of the late Claude Morris and Mary Anne (Price) Morris.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Homer Ernest Draughn, who passed away in November 2003.
Mary is survived by four children, Robert Ernest Draughn and wife, Pam of OH, Virginia Lee Clark of Imperial, CA, Patricia Ann Selke and husband, Michael of Tomah, WI, and Sally J. Pickens and husband, John “Butch” Pickens, of Grafton; sixteen grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law Debbie Draughn of Eagle Mt., UT; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, David Dean Draughn, and Marvin James Draughn; one daughter, Adell Marie Miller; one great-grandson, Tristan Broc Schroeder; and two sisters, Ruth Holliday and Alice Marie Higginbottom; and one son-in-law, Jerry Clark.
Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister to her family.
She was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church in Grafton, a life member of the V.F.W. Ladies auxiliary 3081 of Grafton, and life member of the D.A.V.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Friday, November 23rd from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Bess officiating and Rev. Jonathan Minear.
At Mary’s request, she will then be cremated and a memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at the WV National Cemetery.
