Carl E. Smith, age 87, of Miller Road, Grafton, WV passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Grafton City Hospital.
He was born June 26, 1928 in Grafton, WV a son of the late Darl Lee Smith, Sr. and Lula V. (Sinsel) Smith.

He is survived by three children, Jennifer L. Knicely and husband Russ, Jane L. Poling and husband Rick, and Alan C. Smith and wife Laurie, all of Grafton; six grandchildren, Rachel Poling, Angel Heldreth, Samantha Poling, Sabrina Poling, Chris Smith, and Emily Smith; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Mayle, Corinne Heldreth, and Rylen Heldreth; one sister, Helen Snyder of Grafton; one sister-in-law, Dorothy M. Hines Smith of Parma, OH; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline V. (Satterfield) Smith; his daughter, Janet Smith; his great-grandson, Lane Heldreth; one brother, Darl L. Smith, Jr.; three sisters, Ruby Tallman, Ruth Whiteman, and Lalah Howard.

Carl was a graduate of Grafton High School with the Class of 1948. He was a former employee of Mon Power, Grafton office, and then he was a Maintenance Technician for Allegheny Power for 47 years.
He enjoyed his family, attending all Grafton sporting events, rabbit hunting, and golfing.
He attended the New Testament Fellowship of Grafton.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday, October 29th from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James E. Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Grafton.
