Obituary for Kathleen Virginia Roberts (Parsons)


Kathleen Virginia Parsons Bailey Roberts went home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 18, 2015. She passed peacefully at the Christian Health Center in Corbin, KY.

She was born on November 30, 1922 in Parsons, WV to Homer Mace and Nell Phillips Parsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Velma Knotts, Genevive Parsons, Verna Rae Murphy, June Lowman, Colleen Knotts, brothers Russell, Sylvester, Homer, Edgar and Carl Parsons, her first husband Chauncey Bailey, Jr., second husband of 33 years, Herbert Roberts, son-in-law John Flowers, and grandson Johnny Flowers.

Kathleen is survived by a brother Bill Parsons (Jean) of Sheffield Lake, OH; one son Chauncey Bailey III of Guam; daughters Margaret Bailey Flowers of Corbin, KY and Patricia Bailey Sisseck of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Eleanor Roberts Ash and Eileen Roberts Biestal of Pennsylvania, her furbaby Joy, and many friends to mourn her passing.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Corbin, and the VFW Ladies Auxillary, American Legion Auxillary, and DAV Auxillary in Grafton, WV. She was past treasurer of the Chattanooga Democrat Party and served as committee chair in Pennsylvania. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, quilting, and puzzles.

Kathleen’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin, Kentucky, with Pastor Chad Fugitt officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton from 11:00-1:30 on Tuesday, December 22, 2015.
Graveside service will follow at the WV National Cemetery with Pastor Garry Whitescarver officiating.
